Urinary incontinence is a problem that many individuals face in their lives but usually avoid talking about. This condition includes incontinence and involuntary loss of urine. Urinary incontinence is a common condition that can affect people of all ages and can negatively affect quality of life. This article will discuss the causes, types, and treatment options of urinary incontinence.

Causes: There are several different causes of urinary incontinence. These may include weak pelvic floor muscles, bladder or urethra problems, hormonal changes, obesity, aging, pregnancy and childbirth, and chronic cough. A combination of these factors can trigger urinary incontinence.

Types: Urinary incontinence can occur in several types. Stress incontinence is a common type that causes urine to leak when a sudden movement, sneezing or coughing occurs. Urge incontinence involves incontinence that is accompanied by a sudden and strong need to urinate. Another type, mixed incontinence, is a combination of stress and urge incontinence.
